"How are you? What are you doing? How is life?" These are the questions we ask people whom we haven't seen in awhile. They are the standard types of inquiries, they are polite and whether or not we are listening to the replies, or even believe them, is a matter of our sincerity.
The month of May honors two groups of people who are related in a strange way. They are the memories of the past. Many of them are present thoughts, and the depth of our feelings and emotions will affect the future. May is also the month which displays the feminine attributes of our essence.
Memorial Day in America is the time we should reflect on all the people who were willing to die for a belief in a better and safer world -- one that practices a free way of living and a democratic life. Who were these men and women who followed the premise that the core of their country's foundation was one of liberty, and is worth the supreme sacrifice of relinquishing their gift of life? It meant that they had to make severe comprimises in every aspect of their lives, in many cases leaving their country for a foreign soil, giving up the comforts of home and family, perhaps never to return.
Mother's Day is celebrated this year on May 11, to show appreciation for the sacrifices our mothers make on our behalf. May is also the month that celebrates creation, life, and birth, and illustrates the nurturing process.
Where would we be without the military man or the mother? Isn't it revealing to see that, in the same month, we give our attention to birth and death? Not so, in the creative process of nature. An individual cannot appreciate one aspect without the other. While each seems to be at the opposite end of the spectrum, they are related and maintain the proper balance. What do we do to acknowledge Nature's example in our human life? We should commence by honoring the feminine characteristics of our being that lay within the core of the attributes of the mother, her soul. The female gender represents creation with all the attributes of loving and caring.
Memorial Day brings into our consciousness the willingness of the Mother to be willing to share a deep part of her own essence with the world. In the last decade, the female has attempted to claim her equality with the male, who is strong and fearless in fighting for the belief of a basic equality among all the nations of the world. In a way, we may be too close to the forest to see the beauty of Nature and her profound lesson: the equality that all of us are searching for, to enhance our lives, is right before us.
These two holidays in May bring forth the natural knowledge that is illustrated in the manner in which we define our world.
To all the mothers of the world, we acknowledge your contribution of your manifestations which populate the globe. To the brave and courageous men who have made the supreme sacrifice of giving their lives for a belief and ideal, we salute you and your memory is placed within the deepest part of our consciousness.
