The second month of the year is for taking stock of the past, and to learn from the examples of the persons who have advanced our culture in numerous ways. What a full month it is! We honor such people as being special, as doing something to encourage the inhabitants of the planet to increase their intuitive resources which are embedded deep within their souls.
George Washington was the first president of our country. He represented the hope for a better life for the citizens of America -- a democratic country of worship, free from the ties that bound them in their native countries. Abraham Lincoln had the insight to attain freedom for all people living within our borders, and to try to bring the divisions of the country together.
February is also the month to celebrate Black History. Every young child is aware of Martin Luther King, Jr., and the long fight for Black Americans to be treated with respect and equality.
Valentine's Day is the day for expressing love, with pictures of hearts and cupids on the fronts of cards sent. Sweetness abounds everywhere with candy hearts and boxes of luscious chocolates given to those for whom we have a special affection. Romance permeates the air.
History is a continuous pattern, and takes place every minute we are on the planet, both on an individual basis, and as a united front. We think of holidays as a special day expressed with good cheer and feelings of gratitude -- and that is true. They should make all of us think a little bit more on where we have been and where we hope to be in the future.
Michael Jackson believes that the present affects the past. We use the expression, "the present affects the future", as a phrase of where we are today, and where we hope to be tomorrow. Michael Jackson's statement makes us take a look at the past, and how our present thought process is affecting history. What an interesting observation!
While he is analyzing where he is now, and where he hopes to be in the future, he looks to the past as the basic foundation for future advancement. Hum-m, since history records the period of a specific generation, what will future generations have as holidays to represent the cultural advancements of this era?
The clue is in realizing that if we do not get the full significance of honoring the accomplishments of people in the past, their efforts may have been in vain. In keeping the thought process of Michael Jackson, we must constantly evaluate our actions to see if we have kept in tact the true dedication of such people, feel the warmth of their spirits, and expand the principles to higher levels of works and understanding.
We do this by embracing each holiday with enthusiasm and love for those who have preceded us, and hold the arrow high in our raised arms to protect the very principles of such persons in history. By using our emotions in this manner, we truly celebrate February by showing our respect, acceptance and appreciation to all the events of the past. We should let it be known that such brave persons' efforts are acknowledged. They have ensured us a brighter future as we continue to learn from their messages and foundations established by their creativity.
Happy Valentine's Day, with love for a bright and successful future as you explore the history of our country and take a glimpse into your personal destiny. Evaluate your own thought process, and see if it is in harmony with the brave and talented persons of the past. See if you qualify as a forerunner straight into the next millennium!
love, C. Mecca
